Meet Tori O’Sullivan
Tori returns the AVC as the assistant of 16 Black for the 2025-2026 season. In the 2024-2025 season, she assisted both the 17 Black and 12 Black teams.
Tori O’Sullivan, with 4 years of coaching experience, has been a dedicated member of Absolute Volleyball Club since 2023. Her coaching background includes leading teams such as 18 Pink and 12 Black in past seasons, achieving notable successes such as placing 3rd in the 14 Club Division at the 2023 Boys SoCal Cup and earning bids in the 18 National and 12 USA categories during the 2024 Girls season.
Tori’s playing career started in high school at Saint Mary’s College High School, where she excelled as a Middle, Outside, and Rightside player. She earned accolades such as Tri-County League MVP in 2016, Team MVP in 2015 and 2016, and multiple First Team all-league selections.
She continued her volleyball journey at the collegiate level, attending San Diego State and later transferring to Long Beach State, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Journalism & Media, Communications, and Rhetorical Writing Studies for her Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s in English. During her college years, Tori garnered impressive achievements, including being named to the All Mountain West Team in 2021 and 2022, receiving Academic All-Conference honors throughout her undergraduate career, and achieving over 1,000 career kills.
Her coaching philosophy centers around creating an environment that fosters motivation, encouragement, and healthy competition, instilling grit in her players while sharing her extensive knowledge and passion for the sport.
Tori’s goals for her players extend beyond volleyball skills to personal growth, aiming for each player to leave the gym better both on and off the court. She emphasizes mental coaching alongside physical development, ensuring her players are prepared and proud of their achievements each season.
Tori finds immense joy in coaching volleyball, relishing the energy and enthusiasm her players bring to the gym daily, and cherishing the opportunity to inspire and guide the next generation of athletes.
Outside of volleyball, Tori enjoys reading, music, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing at the beach, enriching her life beyond the court with diverse interests and activities.
