Mike Buller

Mike Buller returns as the Head Coach of 14 Black and Co-Head Coach of 15 Pink for the 2025-2026 season. In 2024–2025 season, Mike also Head Coached for 15 Pink team, as well as the Co-Head Coach for the 13 Black team where they finishes Top 20 in the nation.

Mike Buller brings over 26 years of coaching experience to Absolute Volleyball Club, where he has been a dedicated coach since 2015.

Mike’s coaching tenure at AVC is marked by extraordinary success. Since 2016, his teams have qualified for Nationals every year. Notable achievements include leading the 13 Black team to a third-place finish in the Open Division at Nationals in 2017 and seventh place in 2023.

His 15 Pink team captured first-place finishes in the Liberty Division at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier and in the USA Division at Far Westerns in 2024, securing additional bids through the NCVA Region.

As a player, Mike excelled as an Outside Hitter at Pacific Union College Preparatory School, earning MVP honors for 1991–1992.

He competed at the collegiate level with Southwestern University in the NAIA Division 2 Cal Pac conference, where his team claimed first place in 1993. Mike holds a BA in History with a PE Teaching Certification from Southwestern University and a Master’s in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Concordia University.

Mike’s coaching philosophy focuses on developing athletes holistically, encouraging them to excel both as players and as individuals. He emphasizes outworking the competition, fostering team loyalty, and playing with purpose and joy. He believes in creating a supportive environment that promotes coachability, competitiveness, and personal growth.

“I love coaching volleyball because it’s the ultimate team sport. It builds confidence, community, and lifelong connections. Coaching allows me to give back to the sport that shaped me and to guide players toward success on and off the court.”

Outside of volleyball, Mike enjoys water sports like wakeboarding and barefoot waterskiing, camping, hiking, and traveling. He cherishes time with his wife, E, whom he recently married. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon exploring Europe and share a passion for Disneyland, where Tinkerbell holds a special place in their hearts!
