Meet Maggie Johnson

Maggie Johnson brings a decade of coaching experience to Absolute Volleyball Club, where she will serve as the Head Coach of 12 White and Assistant Coach of 13 Pink for the 2025–26 season. In 2024–25, she was the Assistant Coach of 16 White. Over her 10 years of coaching, Maggie has worked with athletes from 11s through 18s, achieving success at both the high school and club levels. At Marin Academy, she spent four years as the head JV coach, leading her teams to three league titles, including two undefeated seasons, and later helped the varsity program capture a NorCal Regional Championship and a State Runner-Up finish. In club volleyball, her teams have consistently ranked among the top 10.

As a player, Maggie competed primarily as a libero/defensive specialist, while also stepping in as an outside hitter and setter when needed. At Justin-Siena High School, she led her league in digs and aces and captained the varsity team as a senior. She continued her career at the College of Marin and Mills College, where she earned all-conference honors as a libero and also competed successfully in beach volleyball. Her versatility and leadership as a player now inform her ability to connect with athletes across positions and levels of play.

Maggie’s coaching philosophy emphasizes creating a supportive and empowering space where athletes feel confident to be themselves while striving for excellence. She focuses on resilience, risk-taking, and clear expectations, preparing players not only for the next level of volleyball but also for life beyond the court. Currently serving as Athletic Director at Marin Academy, she values the role of high school sports in personal growth. Outside of volleyball, Maggie enjoys reading, live music, hiking, and spending time with her cat. She is also deeply committed to fostering inclusivity, drawing from her own identity to inspire athletes in the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate who they are in a safe and welcoming environment.
