Meet Greg Ginsburg
Greg Ginsberg returns to AVC as the 13 Pink Head Coach and the assistant for 17 Pink for the 2025-2026 season. In the 2024-2025 season, Greg was the Co-Head Coach for the 13 Pink team, and assistant coach for the 17 Pink team.
Greg Ginsburg brings over 30 years of coaching experience to Absolute Volleyball Club, joining the club last year for the 2023-2024 season. Throughout his coaching career, Greg has worked with age groups ranging from 13 to 18, accumulating notable achievements such as securing bids in both the 14’s and 18’s age groups.
Greg’s playing experience includes roles as an Outside Hitter and Middle, although his high school did not offer volleyball, he excelled in basketball, earning accolades such as basketball all-league and all-CIF honors.
Greg pursued higher education at UC Berkeley, graduating in 1984 with an undergraduate degree in Biology. He later completed a Graduate MBA with an emphasis in Marketing and Statistics, alongside advanced certifications in Negotiating and Supply Chain. During his time at UC Berkeley, Greg played club volleyball, transitioning from basketball to volleyball midway through his college years.
His coaching qualifications include certifications from Gold Medal Squared clinics, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, and various health and safety certifications like Concussion/Sports Injuries, First Aid, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Greg’s coaching philosophy revolves around fostering a growth mindset for continuous improvement, emphasizing understanding the game at deeper levels and creating valuable experiences for his athletes. His goals for players extend beyond skill development to include having fun, learning teamwork, and enhancing overall game performance.
Greg finds immense joy in coaching volleyball, particularly in witnessing the execution of practiced strategies during games, which energizes the entire gym.
Outside of volleyball, Greg is retired but enjoys teaching Honors Economics for high school students as a hobby. He cherishes spending time with his children and finds relaxation in building complex Lego sets. Greg’s coaching career also extends to basketball, where he has guided his high school team to a state championship and multiple NCS titles over the years.
