FAQ: Camps and Clinics

Q. Who may attend AVC summer camps and clinics?
A. AVC camps and clinics are open to ALL ability and skill levels. We encourage everyone who wants to learn about the game to attend, As well as players that want to improve their skills. Our clinics are broken up by club experience. Beginner = NO club experience. Intermediate = 1 – 2 years of club experience and Advanced = 3 or more years of club experience.

Q. Where are the AVC fall clinics held?
A. All of our camps and clinics are held at the AVC training facility in San Rafael. The address is 2145 East Francisco Blvd.  See our Google Map! (Link here)

Q. How will the players in the clinics be grouped up?
A. Our clinics are split up by number of years you have played club volleyball as well as skill level.

Q. How do I know which clinic I can attend?
A. AVC’s Beginner clinics are for players with no club experience. Intermediate clinics are for players with 1 – 2 years of club experience.   Advanced clinics are for players with 3 or more years of club experience.

Q. Do I have to attend a clinic in order to be considered for a spot on a team at tryouts?
A. No. The main purpose of the clinics is to make you a better, more confident player. You DO NOT have to attend the clinics in order to make a team. The clinics will give you a chance to work with the AVC coaching staff and help you
decide if you want to tryout, as well as build your skill level for Cyo and school teams.

Q. If I’m only 5ft tall is it worth it for me to attend a hitting and blocking clinic?
A. Yes. AVC encourages everyone to attend whatever clinics you want. Regardless of your height or position you can always work on getting better at fundamentals for all positions.

Q. My daughter has never played before but really likes the game of volleyball. If she doesn’t want to play Club, can she still attend the camps and clinics?
A. Yes. All Players will be able to implement everything they learn to improve their skills, whether it be for fun, school, or CYO.

Q. What skills will I work on at the AVC clinics?
A. All AVC clinics are broken down to focus on specific skills. We have clinics on passing, setting, serving, hitting, blocking, transition, the TEAM GAME, and various other important skills necessary to succeed. Clinics are designed to
focus on certain aspects of the game to improve that skill.

Q. If my daughter has to leave early from the clinic is it still productive for her to attend?
A. Yes. Any amount of time at any clinic will help improve her overall skill. Please just let AVC know in advance of what time she will need to leave.

Q. How much are your clinics?
A. AVC clinics are $30 per session or you can sign up for all 5 sessions for $100.

Q. Can I register at the door as a drop in?
A. Yes. AVC welcomes drop in participants to our clinics, however we strongly encourage you to sign up early to reserve a spot as our clinics can sell out early.

Q. What should my daughter bring to the AVC Clinics?
A. For your daughters safety, please wear volleyball shoes, or proper tennis shoes, comfortable shorts (spandex preferred) and a T-shirt. Please avoid jewelry like necklaces, watches and bracelets and dangling earrings. Also, please pack a bottle of water and snack (if needed).

Q. If my daughter wants to continue to improve her volleyball, does AVC offer other ways of practicing?
A. AVC offers special pricing on group and private classes. Prices are posted on our website at www.absolutevb.com
